Biped Rigging 101

I started a biped rigging course through cgsociety.org today.  It’s an eight week, online course taught by Paul Hormis.  His resume includes stints with Blizzard and their cinematic department and Blur Studios.

It looks to be some remedial learning for me in the first couple of weeks, but I am hoping to learn some new tricks, and techniques to improve the overall quality of my rigs and to increase effeciency.  There is something about learning or reviewing material with an instructor, especially one you can respect that helps you grasps things that you haven’t been able to do on your own.

Peer validation is also another good result.

    Revisiting things never hurts.

Is this a one on one course, or are bunch of you all doing it at the same time?

Anyway, enjoy, it looks a interesting course.

The class has 22 folks in it. Not quite one on one, but not too bad either.

Thats good, another 22 people to talk to about this stuff can’t hurt.

Playnet pony up the bill or is this on your own discression? Taking classes like this sounds really interesting to be honest. Not very often you go to school to learn something that is absolutly your passion in every way.

Nice. I had looked at that class before but the Max focus kinda took the wind out of my sails. Instead I dropped a bunch on some DVDs.

I’d love to hear a weekly summary with any general tips and such on what you’re learning. I’d even buy you a bunch of drinks at the con.

When lilacs last in the dooryard bloomed,And the great star early drooped in thewestern sky in the night,I mourned, and yet shall mourn with ever-returning spring.
